The FMC Fell Race was first run in 1978 on a course starting and finishing at our Little Langdale hut.
In more recent years, it has been run from our Stair hut in the Newlands Valley, over Catbells. The course is about 6km, with approximately 350m of ascent.
The race is run as a handicap race with a staggered start, the aim being for all runners to be on the finishing straight at the same time.
Stair Fell Race
The fastest recorded time for the Stair course is 30min 48sec (Dave Ward, 2007), with the Ladies record time standing at 37min 10sec (Clare Kenny, 2002).
